Peace River Hydro Partners contributes $90,000 to community groups in 2019

Support offered for over 30 different Peace River Region community groups

 

Fort St John — December 5, 2019 — Peace River Hydro Partners completed its Christmas campaign by donating money, food, and toys worth $18,000 to regional campaigns and charities at an event at the Site C viewpoint. In total this year, PRHP has contributed $90,000 to more than 30 community groups in the Peace Region.

PRHP is proud to support the local community through three pillars: children and youth, healthy families, and education. Community investments have reached diverse recipients. In May, PRHP kicked off their educational support for the year with Project Heavy Duty, donating a dozer for the students to use with a weekly value of $8,500.  The largest donation, a scholarship at Northern Lights College for $35,000, was announced November 7 at North Peace Secondary School.

Funds were also shared amongst Peace Region libraries, the Cultural Centre, and the Child Development Centre for supplemental education programs. Robert Ogilvie Elementary School was the final educational recipient for 2019, receiving a technology curriculum upgrade worth $5,000.  In July, PRHP’s annual charity golf tournament raised $6,015 to support Community Bridge.  The annual Christmas Hamper Drive resulted in $18,020 for several Peace Region area charities and food banks, which will help several hundred low-income families with much-needed support over the holiday season.

Peace River Hydro Partners, a joint venture between ACCIONA and Samsung C&T, holds the Main Civil Works Contract on BC Hydro’s Site C Clean Energy Project.
