Peace River Hydro Partners’ completes “12 Days of Giving” campaign

$35,750 in donations given to Peace Region community groups

Fort St. John — December 14, 2020 — Peace River Hydro Partners completed their “12 Days of Giving” holiday campaign, contributing $35,750 across 24 different charities, groups, and programs. All were located within the Peace Region. The largest donation, $4,750, went to the Salvation Army Food Bank, while 23 other charities received amounts ranging from $500 to $2,500.

PRHP is proud to support the local communities. “Investing in the region helps ensure a vibrant and dynamic future within the community, creating opportunities for people to improve their quality of life,” said Jamie Bodnarchuk, PRHP’s Communications Manager and Chair of PRHP’s Community Investment Team. “We are very proud of our accomplishment this year in supporting local communities. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to contribute to such a wide variety of charities, programs, and groups. Additionally, PRHP raised these funds through its site-wide recycling program. PRHP recycles pop cans and bottles, along with construction debris like scrap cable, wiring, metal trim, culvert cuttings, and other waste materials. Not only do we prevent these items from ending up in landfills, but we turn them into something positive that benefits many people. Now, more than ever, local communities need support. The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented challenges within vulnerable communities. PRHP is honored to be able to help.”

This year’s recipients included the Salvation Army Food Bank, Duncan Cran Elementary School lunch program, Bert Ambrose Elementary School lunch program, Fort St. John Public Library, Taylor Public Library, Dawson Creek Public Library, Hudson’s Hope Public Library, Chetwynd Public Library AlphaBITES program, Tumbler Ridge Public Library, Fort St. John Literacy Society’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Fort St. John Child Development Centre, Fort St. John Association for Community Living, Dawson Creek Society for Community Living, Fort St. John and Area Senior’s Care Foundation, North Peace Senior’s Housing Society, Pouce Coupe Food Bank, Friends of Hudson’s Hope Society, Tansi Friendship Centre, New Totem Archery Club, BC Peace Predators Girls’ Hockey Team, Fort St. John Inconnu Swim Club, Fort St. John Firefighters’
Charitable Society, Charlie Lake Fire Department, and Tumbler Ridge Search and Rescue.

$3,000 in support of inclusive skill building programs

Fort St. John — December 12, 2020 — For the twelfth and final day of the “12 Days of Giving” campaign, Peace River Hydro Partners gives $3,000 to the Fort St. John Association for Community Living, the Dawson Creek Society for Community Living, and the Fort St. John Child Development Center in support of programs to help those with special needs. The organizations offer support with housing, employment skill-building and connection-making, and personalized support for each individual or family.

$5,000 in support of local firefighting crews

Fort St. John — December 11, 2020 — For the eleventh day of the “12 Days of Giving” campaign, Peace River Hydro Partners gives $5,000 to the Charlie Lake Fire Department and Fort St. John Firefighters Charitable Society in support of local firefighting crews. The Fort St. John Firefighters Charitable Society offers support for burn survivors alongside the BC Fire Fighters Burn Foundation, as well as support for local families facing financial difficulties to travel for medical appointments and treatments.
PRHP’s Emergency Response Supervisor Jess Horsfield comments, “Several members of the Charlie Lake Fire Department have assisted with our safety training programs. The crewmembers are close-knit members of the community and we are grateful for their continuing support.”

The PRHP Emergency Response Team, led by Jess, works closely with the Charlie Lake Fire Department. Jess is also a trained firefighter, with more than six years of volunteer municipal firefighting experience. She also holds several certifications including licensed Emergency Medical Responder, Underground Mine Rescue, Swiftwater, Ice, High Angle Rescue and Highway Rescue -all at a Technician level, and has nearly completed her Emergency Management Certification. Firefighting is a cause near and dear to her heart that PRHP is honored to help support.
